An International Business Education Center
The UH
CIBER is funded by the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of
1988. We promote international business research and development
activities at the University of Hawai'i. As one of 28 such centers
at major universities across the U.S., the UH CIBER serves as a
national resource for improving international business techniques
and strategies, as well as a regional resource providing training
and research designed to meet the needs of companies doing business
with the Asia-Pacific.
CIBER
promotes the creation of interdisciplinary business and language
courses through working with language and area studies faculty at
the University. Other curriculum projects include the innovative
Field Study in Asia course and the annual PAMI Summer Program. The
UH CIBER funds faculty research projects and provides travel support
for faculty to present papers at international conferences. Outreach
and executive education initiatives include working with various
community organizations to sponsor workshops and other training
activities. CIBER sponsors a variety of faculty development activities
such as the annual Summer Workshop for the Development of Intercultural
Coursework which brings together faculty from the U.S. and abroad
for a two-week intensive seminar.
